Your Donated Materials Help Support Affordable Housing
At the ReStores, your quality donations keep us in business. Clean out your garage or basement and help build affordable housing in Columbia, Sauk, or Iowa Counties in the process. You’ll receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donations each time you donate.
If you are dropping items off, please bring your donation to the Portage location (1450 East Wisconsin St.) or Baraboo location (615 South Blvd.) during business hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Contractor Support Services
Habitat ReStore now offers new services exclusively for contractors, subcontractors, tradespersons and service professionals, including a 48-hour pick-up guarantee, hassle-free drop-offs and on-site removal. Learn more.
Materials Habitat ReStore Accepts and Sells:
Clothes washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, cook-tops/ovens, AC units. Should be ten (10) years old or newer, clean and in 100% working order. Range hoods, microwaves, dishwashers, water heaters (new)
Should be five (5) years old or newer, clean and in 100% working order
Kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, bathroom vanities, medicine cabinets, etc.
Should be twenty (20) years old or newer and have all doors and drawers. Must be free of mold, water damage, structural damage, and all vanity tops must have cabinet with it.
Power tools, hand tools, garden tools, toolboxes and storage, etc.
All tools must be in 100% working order and have all safety guards, batteries, cords, etc.
Wood & Upholstered Furniture
Dressers, tables, chairs, sofas, shelving, hutches, armoires, framed mirrors, bed frames (frames only), etc.
We are NOT accepting pressboard furniture, office items, entertainment centers or futons at this time.
Hard wood flooring
Must be new; we are NOT accepting these materials used. Must also be a minimum of 36 square feet.

Kitchen sinks, pedestal and drop-in bathroom sinks, utility sinks, bathtubs, Corian countertops, toilets (new), plumbing hardware, etc.
We are NOT accepting solid surface vanity tops or granite countertops at this time.
All electrical supplies and accessories.
Must be modern and not obsolete. We do NOT accept electronics, computers, monitors or TVs.
All windows that are less than ten (10) years old.
Must have all sashes and frames and must be free of broken glass and fogged glass. For large windows, please call for pre-approval. We are NOT accepting storm windows or screens.
All hardware and fasteners (for example, handles, hinges, screws, nails, etc.)
Must be free of rust and usable.
Interior/exterior doors, storm doors, patio doors (with frame only), shower doors (new), etc.
Must be free of damage, fogged glass, lead paint, etc. We are NOT accepting hollow core doors or broken door jambs.
Lighting and Ceiling Fans
All residential lighting fixtures and ceiling fans.
Lawn & Garden
Tools (such as shovels, rakes, etc.) and yard equipment
Must be working and clean.
We are NOT accepting bricks or blocks at this time. Pavers are accepted seasonally.
Lumber & Trim
Plywood, paneling, trim (new only), dimensional and framing lumber, particleboard, composite decking, etc.
Lumber and trim must be a minimum of six feet (6’) in length and sheet goods must be a minimum of a 1/2 sheet or 4’x4’ in size. All wood products must be free of water damage and mold and no cutouts.
New insulation, new roofing material
Items must be in original packaging.
Antiques (typically pre-1960s)
Antiques need to be in good condition and not need any work done to them.
All donated materials must be in 100% working condition, free of mold, water damage and to the best of your knowledge, free of lead paint.

Unfortunately, we are not accepting: paint or stain; used toilets; storm windows or screens; used window shades or blinds; used carpet, vinyl or tile; hollow core slab doors; used shower doors; used trim; wallpaper; electronics, TVs or CRT monitors; dehumidifiers; siding; solid surface vanity tops; futons, recliners or sleeper sofas; clothing or household items; used garage doors; fireplace inserts; unframed windows or mirrors; electric organs or pianos; hazardous materials or chemicals; mercury thermostats; or laminate flooring made in China.
